Funding

Funding Opportunities

The Indigenous Power & Light Fund was created to help Tribal leaders address one of the most critical challenges facing Native communities: reliable, affordable, and sovereign energy. If your Tribe is facing exorbitant energy costs, unreliable power, or critical infrastructure gaps — or needs immediate capital to complete a clean energy project — the Fund is here to help. We provide rapid-response grants and loans, with a streamlined process designed to deliver timely support, strengthen Tribal control, and position your Nation for long-term energy sovereignty and resilience.

Details:

  • Tribes are eligible one time per year to be funded;
  • Grants are up to $500k for clean energy (solar, wind, storage) project costs;
  • Loans of up to $1M for same as above

Process:

  • Invite-only, Tribes should email funds@tribalcleanenergy.org to express their interest and set up an initial call with the Tribal Engagement team.
  • Additional meetings with Technical Assistance and Project Finance teams will be required to understand project risks and have a line of site to project completion.
  • Once the review is completed, a decision will be made on whether or not to extend an invitation to apply.
